Mother and baby held at gunpoint

Laetitia Velleman | 16 April 2014 09:00

A woman from Centurion with a two-month-old baby feared for her life and that of her child when she was held at gunpoint in her house in Lyttelton on Tuesday mornin...g.

Chanelle Murray-Marinov said she was busy changing her daughter’s nappy in the bedroom when she heard a noise behind her. “At first I thought it was my husband, so I yelled out ‘who’s there’, but no one answered.

The next moment I felt something cold and hard against my head,” said Murray-Marinov.According to her, the man that stood behind her threatened to shoot her and her baby if she turned around.

“The man hit me several times over the head with the gun to indicate that he was serious. I feared for our lives.” In the next room, she heard a second person plugging out a tablet and scuffling around.

She then knew there must have been at least two people in their one-bedroom apartment.“After a few minutes, the man closed my bedroom door and said that if he saw me outside the house, he would shoot me.

” She heard the men leaving the house and counted to ten before running outside to see in which direction the suspects were headed. She ran back into the house, pushed furniture against the doors and phoned her husband Melano.

When Melano arrived, he noticed that the suspects had lifted their gate from its railing to enter the premises. The couple have only been living in the neighbourhood for five months, but since the incident, they have been been trying to move.

“We don’t feel safe here anymore,” Murray-Marinov said. The couple, along with most of the residents in Selbourne Avenue, said that the street had been especially hard hit by crime. House robberies have been taking place almost weekly. T
he residents are desperate to keep their neighbourhood safe and are willing to take matters into their own hands. Murray-Marinov said she was contacted later that afternoon by a security company informing her that they found her handbag in Muckleneuk in the east. Notably, she said that only her daughter’s two unabridged birth certificates were missing.

We need help!!! You do not see a tenth of this kind of thing the news!!!

SAPS tell white community to back off after they helped the police helped to create order in Bloemhof?

My name is Deon # # # # # and I'm part of the community of Bloemhof . On Monday and Tuesday we as ...a community had to make a stand to prevent our town from being invaded and looted. Fortunately, we have a neighborhood watch which we established 8 months ago fully equipped with radio's , night vision and thermal imaging .

The police themselves could not defend themselves on Monday and Tuesday against the masses because they were too few. At one point we even had to give them shotgun cartridges . By Wednesday our reinforcements extended as far as Kathu with about 300 bakkies.

Please note that we are NOT politically driven - this was mere action to protect our property. These black people had by this time burned down all the black neighborhood and all information indicated that they wanted to raid our town.

We knew it was true because3 to 4 times about 3000 blacks had previously tried to come into the town to overpower it. They acted militarily because they striked us then pulled themselves back and hit us in a different place.

We observed them so that we could "redirect " our men. Their objective was to break into shops to steel and burn down other buildings in the town. We stood against this and defended.

On Wednesday night, a General of Police came and ordered us to stand down . We obeyed her command on condition that she had to bring in reinforcements . I learned that almost all of Northwest riot police were here.

Our information says that the blacks are planning to start burning towns around us so that the police force would become dispersed, because they want to take over Bloemhof. They have already begun to do it in the following towns: Wollies , Makwassie , City of Hope , S / Reineke , Hertzogville and Christiana .

I want to lay a charge of terrorism but thus far no lawyer has got the backbone. I believe it will be the way to turn things around. Help please with advice and referrals, and even with a name of an Attorney please who is prepared to help. We need help. You do not see a tenth of this kind of thing the news.

Thank you
Deon

‘Reverse apartheid’: South Africa’s white slums

Coronation Park is a squatter camp with a majority white population in Krugersdorp, South Africa.
Although impoverished blacks in the region far outnumber their white counterparts, this camp is one of a growing number of townships populated mostly by Afrikaners – white South Africans.
In the 19 years since the fall of apartheid, more and more whites are coming face to face with poverty and social meltdown.
A controversial “affirmative action” policy sees blacks take precedence over whites on the job market, giving some people little choice but to move into tents and caravans in camps such as Coronation Park.
Residents are frustrated at what they see as ‘reverse apartheid.’
“I’m sorry, it’s racist. I’m not racist, but the blacks come first and then whites,” said one retired resident of the camp. “And even highly qualified whites don’t get a position in South Africa.”
Another man agreed, blaming affirmative action for their situation.
“Apartheid was a problem. But, this is the only country in the world where the majority has got ‘affirmative action’,” he said. “America’s got affirmative action, everywhere’s got affirmation action, but this is the only country where the majority’s got ‘affirmative action’.”
Post-apartheid governments have struggled to achieve redistribution of wealth and economic growth, leading to an increase in poverty among the country’s white population.
In spite of this, white South Africans still control most of the country’s economy.

Sunette Bridges

Ek is by 'n punt van absolute GATVOLGEIT verby!
Sx

Police homes destroyed in violent Bloemhof protests

Police homes destroyed in violent Bloemhof protests

A total of 12 police homes have now been destroyed in violent protests after residents of the Boitumelong township in the Bloemhof area went on the rampage over nepotism and lack of service delivery in the local ANC government.
According to ofm.co.za, so far a total of twelve houses belonging to police officers have been burned down. Sabc.co.za reports the houses of officials of the Lekwa-Teemane municipality and mayor Moeder Makodi as well as the community hall were also set on fire. Residents are demanding the dissolution of the municipality. Protesters disrupted schools, barricaded the N12 with burning tyres, pelted police with stones and petrol bombed a nyala. Two police officers were injured and taken to hospital after being pelted with stones. One officer lost his finger in an attack, says iol.co.za. According to saps.co.za, the violent Bloemhof protests have been going on since Wednesday, 2 April 2014. According to Enca.com, the ANC government responded by saying violent protests are self-defeating and undemocratic. Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Minister Lechesa Tsenoli issued a strongly worded statement condemning the violence. The ANC called for calm on Tuesday, according to news24.com. "The ANC condemns acts of provocation, intimidation, public violence and criminality by some of the protesters," North West provincial secretary Dakota Legoete said. "While the public has the constitutional right to protest, these very rights do not imply that people must be violent, destroy private and public property, attack police and intimidate others." Bloemfonteincourant.co.za reports that last night was another night of high level organized chaos. Another four trucks (lorries) were attacked on the N12 (highway). They capsized off the road and one of them set alight, bringing the total of trucks destroyed to eight. Residents are on the rampage over service delivery issues and corruption and nepotism of the Mayor. According to ofm.co.za, some residents have fled the town and some businesses closed down. Protesters have also torched and looted foreign owned tuck shops.
