The couple who was on their way to Swaziland, planned to stay in Nelspruit at a backpackers for one night before continuing with their journey. According to Dave Busschau, manager of Old Vic’s Travellers Inn, they booked in on Sunday morning and he recommended they visit the botanical garden as it is one of the best gardens to visit in the country.

A Quiet afternoon strol on Monday afternoon degenerated into a fist fight when three residents of Capital Park was assaulted by two unidentified men. Ronald Remmers, chairman of Capital Park Residents and Ratepayers Association (CAPRRA) Klaasie Schoeman and Marleen van Wyk was attacked unexpectedly at about 17:30 in Venter Street by the suspects and pepper sprayed. One of the suspects then knocked Remmers down and he bumped his head on a rock. He is currently Meulmed Hospital's intensive care unit for swelling on the brain and two skull fractures. According Ethelwyn Remmers, the suspects kicked the victim and hit him. "Fortunately, Sarah managed engage one of the suspects to give Ronald time to get to his feet. He regained his balance after which the suspects fled.

Police in Philippolis is looking for the killer (s) of a Bangladeshi shop owner who was killed cruelly in his shop in the town. Romzan Mohammed (29) was found on Tuesday at about 13:00 by a friend in a back room in his shop. He was stabbed in the chest and his stomach was cut so badly that his entrails were visible, Sgt. Ikobeng Hlubi police spokesman said.
According to her, his hands and feet tied. It is unclear when he was killed and what the motive was. "All the money was still in the store. Nothing but a laptop is missing, "said Hlubi.

Robbers shoot police officer in his home
Johannesburg – A senior police officer was wounded after he was attacked by two armed men at his house in Johannesburg south, police spokesman Lt-Gen Solomon Makgale said on Friday.
“At approximately 9pm last night, Thursday, Major General Daniel Mthombeni surprised two armed intruders minutes after arriving home,” he said in a statement.

Resident hijacked by two armed men
Two men armed emerged from the vehicle with firearms pointed at him.

A Bedfordview resident was hijacked on April 16 at 6.20pm.The victim arrived home and opened the gate to enter the premises.He entered and while waiting for the garage door to open, he heard the sound of a vehicle stopping behind him.
When the man noticed that the vehicle was not his wife’s, he immediately reversed into the vehicle.Two men armed emerged from the vehicle with firearms pointed at him.
The men demanded that the victim exit his vehicle. One of them searched the man for any valuables while the other searched for valuables in the garage.
The two men then fled the scene with the man’s vehicle.The Bedfordview SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Mduduzi Nhlabathi said,
“The owner’s vehicle was later recovered in the Katlegong area. Investigations are still ongoing and the resident was unharmed during the hijacking.”

Armed robbers tie up couple
Two families living in Craighall Park and Parkview were recently victims of separate incidents of armed robberies.

The first occurred in Craighall Park where the complainant said he had been watching TV when two armed men entered his home and tied him up.Police spokesperson Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha said,
“At this point, four more men entered the home and ransacked the house.“All six men were armed and stole money, jewellery and cellphones from the house.
They were scared off when one of them tripped the security alarm, and ran off with only some of the valuables that they had packed inside the house.”
The second incident, which took place in Parkview left a couple distraught after their home was invaded by two armed men.
“The couple was instructed not to make a noise, and [they were] tied up in their bedroom. The men stole the woman’s jewellery, the home plasma [TV], camera and money,” said Ramovha.
No suspects have been arrested for either incidents.
